The Academy is a Royce Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu affiliate. We run classes on Wednesdays, and a Saturday morning class. We are fast becoming one of the most sought after places in Essex to learn authentic Gracie Jiu Jitsu self defence, straight from the source. Principle instruction comes from Head Instructor Jon Hegan, who received his black belt personally from UFC legend Royce Gracie in 2013 after completing the infamous Valente Brothers black belt test. In 2016, after 19 years of training, Royce awarded him his Professors blue bar. Gracie Jiu Jitsu is a highly developed grappling self defence art, which emphasises the use of throws, joint locks and chokes, as well as strikes.
We have been running a successful kids program since 2010. Ages are from 6-15 and focus only on the learning of Gracie Jiu jitsu for confidence building and self defence. There are no games, or entertainment!

We are affiliated directly to Royce Gracie/Valente Brothers. Therefore the lineage we have we the founder of the system, Grandmaster Helio Gracie, is direct.
All classes are taught by Professor Jon Hegan, one of only two 'tested' Royce Gracie UK black belts.
We have the largest Dollamur mat area in Essex. This is the highest quality protective mat surface that is available, and is used at all UFC training centres.
We also have a Saturday morning kids class for ages 6-15.
